From one of Iran’s most renowned director’s comes a beautifully crafted, gently humorous tale of simple folk with simple problems.
Karim is a kind and honest man who works on an ostrich farm outside Tehran. When one of the ostriches runs away, Karim is blamed for the catastrophe and fired from his job, forcing him to pack up his family and re locate to the city.
While out on an errand one day, Karim is mistaken for a taxi driver when a businessman jumps on the back of his motorbike. So begins Karim’s new career and his entrée into the world of capitalism.
Much to the distress of his wife and family, Karim’s contact with the middle-classes and their material goods starts to corrupt their beloved family man and transform his once generous and honest nature. It is up to those closest to Karim to restore the values that he had once cherished.
What the Critics say!
“With its sweeping cinematography, utterly affectless acting, and humane perspective, The Song of Sparrows was a treat in every sense of the word.![]()
