A funny and original story about a family with a multitude of problems from one of Italy’s hottest young directors.
At the age of 36, Stefano Nardini (Valerio Mastandrea) is still playing with a young punk rock band in Rome. He used to be magazine fodder but he hasn’t brought out a record in four years and his audience makes him feel old. Without a girlfriend or even a real bed to sleep in, he decides to return to his hometown of Rimini to reconnect with his family and lead a more simple life.
Despite being happy to see him, the family is in the middle of its own crisis. His father’s had a heart attack, leaving the family fruit-packing factory in the hands of depressed brother Alberto (Giuseppe Battiston) and the business on the brink of collapse. His mother is taking classes from a kooky guru while his sister Michela (Anita Caprioli) has become a lesbian and quit university to work with dolphins.
Stefano does his best to help out, finding himself more needed than needing, but he soon finds out that taking on everyone else’s problems is not going to solve his own. This bittersweet and charming comedy shows director Gianni Zanasi has a sharp eye for real life as well as laughs.
