Bigger, Stronger, Faster*

Country: USA
Language: English
Duration: 105 minutes
Distributor: Madman Australia
Director: Chris Bell
Genre: Documentary

From the makers of Bowling for Columbine and Fahrenheit 9/11 comes a film that unflinchingly explores the American win-at-all-cost culture through the lens of a personal journey.

Filmmaker and gym-bunny Chris Bell grew up idolizing muscular giants like Hulk Hogan, Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger. When he found out his heroes were all on steroids it shocked him to the core.

But as he and his brothers set their sporting ambitions higher they each had to make the choice whether to follow the rules or follow their heroes into the steroid subculture and become bigger, stronger, faster.

Turning the camera on his own family to ask why athletes choose to use performance-enhancing drugs, Bell opens the door on an issue with ramifications in the worlds of politics, morality, mortality and ethics.

American culture rewards speed, size and above all else winning – at sport, at business and at war. This thoughtful film poses the question: is it still cheating if everyone's doing it?
