It’s Liverpool 1955 and John Lennon is 15 years old. Since the age of five, he’s been brought up by his Aunt Mimi – a traditional woman who likes classical music. But when John meets his mother Julia, she introduces him to Elvis and Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, and the fire is ignited. This debut feature from artist Sam Taylor Woods stars Kristen Scott Thomas and Anne-Marie Duff as the women who clash over the young man who will change the face of music. More a love story than a biopic, newcomer Aaron Johnson gives us deeply imagined insights into the events that drove Lennon’s creative musical genius.

Just ten days after its world premiere in London, we bring you the highly anticipated film about John Lennon’s formative years.

Thoroughly enjoyable. A sensitive, insightful look at that period of John Lennon’s life and inspiration.

A bit uncertain about the timespan… he didn’t change in appearance throughout the movie.

That aside, it’s beautifully shot and set to a good pace.

Further to the screening of the new John Lennon film ’Nowhere Boy’ which briefly features the famous gates outside the Strawberry Field Home Ive resurrected a painting interest and this yr completed 2 works of the Home in Beaconsfield Rd as it was perhaps perceived by a young John Lennon in the early 50’s forming the inspiration for the famous song. Ive tried to interpret with some research accuracy Johns early affinity of the home and grounds he played in as a child and the connection with Strawberry Fields memorial in Central Park NY which mentions the original home. My website http://www.strawberryfieldsart.com shows the paintings and describes a little more historical detail. I also grew up at the same time in a nearby area and believe the famous gates and the old original Victorian Home which i remember as a boy have never been depicted as a painting..
